Her Final Joke Was Kindness is an experimental electronic ambient side project created by Trig Jegman in 2025. It takes deep inspiration from ambience, post-rock, harsh noise, and other lo-fi works to create something dark, eerie, and deeply personal. Synthesizers and unique samples make up the majority of instrumentation, with a cold, harsh text-to-speech program delivering most of the lyrics.
The title of the project Her Final Joke Was Kindness references the Trig Jegman work SUPEREGO off the EP How to End the World in 3EZ Steps!
The first work in the style of the project was originally released in November 2021 under Trig Jegman, as a one-off experimental work to introduce lyrics into pieces while not necessarily singing. The lyrics are intensely introspective, and are a result of major life changes stemming from the COVID era, as well as a major move and the end to several long-term relationships.
This piece would evolve into a dedicated album two years later in February of 2023. Everything I Do Leads To Ruin is, by all accounts, the beginning of the Her Final Joke Was Kindness project. Full of droning synthesizers and criticisms of the self, it hopes to connect to people in a way that gets under their comfortability just enough to ask some bigger questions about themselves.
Now in 2025, this idea for "Lo-Fi Ambient Depression" has spun off into its own dedicated project and release. With deeper lyrics and dedicated design, Her Final Joke Was Kindness is a direct gaze straight into the soul, be it the songwriter's or your own. What you find might surprise you!
